Exploring Our Faith Together

St. Francis Parish is offering two sessions as part of the 2012 Lenten Foundation: Exploring Our Faith series.

"The Dignity of Creation: a Call to Wonder, Compassion of Healing"  presented by Sr. Judy Schachtel on Thursday 1st March at 7pm.

Like Francis of Assisi, we will reflect on our oneness with all creation, and place in this community of life.  We are being called to a new form

of human presence and comprehensive compassion before all, for all is sacred.

Knights of Columbus

Grand Knight Brian Colquhoun and Council members of St. Frances Xavier Knights of Columbus (Council No. 9848) wish to thank all those who helped in staging a successful fundraising dinner on 30th January.  This was held at Mulberry`sResturant in Market Mall.  The 92 attendees appeared to have had a great time.  Thanks are due to those who helped us get some wonderful door prizes.  Thank you for this.  I know that you wish to remain anonymous, but wish you to relay to the kind donours our debt of gratitude for the generosity.  God Bless You.

Planning a Baptism

The spring session for Baptism Classes will be coming in the near future (probably in March). The sessions consist of two evenings (approx. 7-9) held in the welcoming area of the Church.

Dats for the classes will be published as soon as they are set. Classes are required prior to having a child baptized.

Valentine Sunday Brunch

Valentine Sunday Brunch--Everyone is welcome to stay after mass on Sunday 12th February for Brunch.  As it is almost Valentine`s Day, we will exchange the valentine`syou brought last week!

Please stay and enjoy the fellowship and fun.  There will be a free-will offering.

The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick

Any elderly parishioners, or any experiencing serious or chronic illness at this time, who would like to receive this Sacrament are asked to sit in the two centre sections of pews,in every other row (thereby allowing a free row of pews between that Father may pass down to do the anointing)  This take place at 5pm Mass and again at 9am mass.

Adult Help Needed

We are looking for a couple of adults to help serve on the altar on Sunday mornings.  We have a number of new young servers (HURRAY!), but do not have anyone to team with them to help them get established on the altar.  If you would consider taking on this task, it would be much appreciated.

Sacramental Preparation

We will be holding workshops to preparechildren in St. Francis Parish for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Confirmation and First Communion. Parents of the childrenin Grade Two are

invited to register their children for this purpose by calling the parish office at 653-5126 by October 7/11.

Ongoing Events

The C.W.L. meets the first Wednesday of each month, beginning September 4th and starts with 7:00 p.m. mass. 

The K of C meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month in the Welcoming Area, beginning September 12th and start at 7:30 p.m. 

Morning Bible Study begins September 6th. This group meets each Wednesday morning at 9:30. Newcomers are welcome. 

The Seniors' Friendship Club meets each Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Welcoming Area. This is an opportunity to come out and join in an afternoon of fellowship, cards, etc, food, and fun. Everyone is welcome. The club's first meeting will be September 13th.
